our approach

what is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy aims to decrease physical, social-emotional, cognitive and sensory processing barriers that prevents a person in fully engaging in occupations or activities.

why we’re different

We believe in the power of the human connection, recognizing the importance of a save patient-therapist relationship, treating each patient with value dignity and highest respect.

"After just two sessions with Carina, Nolan was showing very obvious improvements such as increased eye contact, the ability to carry out tasks (most noticeable at physical therapy and school), and seeming very grounded, calm, and present in his body. "

Therapeutic Programs

The Masgutova Neurosensory Motor Reflex Integration Method, MNRI(R)

The MNRI method is a gentle and effective hands on approach to facilitate sensory-motor as well as emotional development. The method incorporates innate reflex patterns to facilitate neural development.

Primary movements and reflex patterns are expressed by every individual and are key elements of human development. Many of these reflexes are necessary for survival during periods of stress and danger. They are also neurological building blocks for all learned movements and skills including cognitive skills, motor development & coordination skills, and other primary reflexes. Certain life events experienced before, during and after birth may affect the ability of these reflex patterns to be fully integrated and used effectively. An individual may revert to using infant reflexes due to stress, traumatic experiences or injury. When reflexes do not fully integrate or become active during stressful situations, abnormal movement patterns may develop and impede the development of more mature movement patterns, skills, & intellectual processes.

Integrated Listening System - The Safe & Sound Protocol

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based listening therapy designed to reduce sound sensitivities and improve auditory processing, behavioral state regulation, and social engagement behaviors through filtered music. As a practical application of Polyvagal Theory, the SSP acts as a non-invasive, acoustic vagal nerve stimulator, helping to re-tune the nervous system to better support connection, collaboration and resilience. The SSP involves listening to specially filtered music through headphones alongside a provider, in-person or remotely. Suitable for children and adults, the SSP has demonstrated benefits for individuals with trauma, anxiety, sensory processing differences and more.
